Hello Hello Hello

Helloooo everyone and welcome to The Wellness 4 Women Show Life, 'Weight loss' and everything in between Show Notes (Blog)!

Well, what can I say!  Other than this is all a bit new and exciting!

If you’d have asked me 2 years ago what will you be doing in 2021 I can 100% tell you it would certainly not have been figuring out how to make a blog and being a life and weight loss coach! But here I am!  Ta da…surprise!

You’ve got to love the way life takes you sometimes!

To start with seems fitting to start with an introduction!  So….Hello!

I am Faye.  40+-year-old single, momma to a teenager, weight loss and self-development enthusiast and ex-yo-yo dieter!

I lost over 70lb with a power combo of intuitive eating and life coaching I have finally said no to the yo-yo  (#saynototheyoyo).  More than that though my life has transformed as have I as a person not just due to the weight loss.

I am now wanting to help others to lose weight whilst living their best lives in the process, as losing weight really does not have to suck!

So, a bit of back story about me, I have been over-weight my whole life!

I am pretty sure in primary school I was the largest kid in my class, and even if I wasn’t, mentally, I certainly felt like it.  Never, any good at sports and some kids used to call me “Fat Faye”.  Even at such a young age, I had really low self-esteem.  I remember comparing myself to everyone, and at times was desperately unhappy.  My superpower though was hiding it!  I never told my parents and battled these demons alone for years.  It was also the 80s, so we welcomed ready meals, there were jars of sweets in the sweet shop and I soon figured I got more if I went for the ½ penny sweets.  I also had a loving Nan we would bake and she would take me to the shop for monster munch, choc dips and cola bottles.  Those were the days!

Then came the teenage years – WOW, those were a joy, she says as sarcastically as possible.  I never felt like I fitted in, still had that low self-esteem and now the added complication of wanting to meet and be liked by boys!  I think my best description of then is TURBULANT!  Emotionally I was a mess, but my superpower prevailed, and I hid it well!  Thankfully I had some good friends and food!

Then comes adulthood and off to uni.  Parties, late-night food, drinking and that still nagging low self-esteem and cue 2 stone gained in my first year! I guess we are starting to see how I got to where I did?  Bad habits, a desire to fit in and reliance on food for comfort sound like a dangerous combo to me!

Most of my 20s and 30s I spent married, there were more parties, countless take outs, alcohol etc all leading to the normal spread that happens when you are in a long-term relationship and don’t even get me started on the baby weight that brought me my now teenager!

So, there I was before I knew it turning 40!

I’m working in HR, I have a successful career, and a generally positive outlook but yet I didn’t really know where life was taking me, what my purpose was and just felt something was missing.  Have you ever had that feeling?

I would go to work, come home (probably watch Netflix or play online games) then rinse and repeat.  It was definitely your atypical “groundhog day” situation.  I just always felt a little bit out of step somewhere but could never really pinpoint what it was.

I would often wonder what is wrong with me?  Why do I feel so crappy?  I have loving parents, a wonderful daughter, a job I love, good friends…why am I not happier!  I must be broken! Then decide that was all too complicated and plaster a smile on my face and carry on regardless so as to try and block it all out.

What I didn’t realise at the time was the reason I felt so out of step was due to not dealing with my thoughts and feelings! Who knew right?

Sounds scary though or is just me?  Dealing with your thoughts and feelings ooo but honestly, I promise you it is not, it is liberating!

What I didn’t realise was that those thoughts and feelings I thought I was doing a fantastic job at burying were always there still, no matter what … unconsciously controlling my actions or probably more like inactions!.  It’s no wonder I was feeling so crappy really!

This all played out well and truly in my weight and mental health at times if I am honest.  I ate to excess and when not hungry, drank, and buffered in every which way I could to block out all the chatter.

And then my life changed!

I stumbled across intuitive eating and life coaching when I just upped and decided one day “I’ve never listened to a podcast!” and now there is no going back!

Not going to lie, when I started that program, I thought it would just be another failed diet!  No way could intuitive eating work! Thought work, pah! Load of WOO! I was a hardened and seasoned classic yo-yo dieter.  I’d lose 2 stone, quit, put it all back on and repeat the cycle! Just more proof I was not good enough.

I tried various mainstream diets, contemplated extreme diets and had at times in my life where it thought maybe only weight loss surgery, magic pills and all other host of other crazy solutions would be the key.

Never in my wildest dreams at that point in time did I think I would be where I am today!

I lost over 70lb which is fantastic I was beyond pleased and proud but what I really did not expect is how easy it would be and how strong a belief I could have that the weight was never coming back as I have truly lost it how I want to live it.

The other totally unexpected side effect of combining it with life coaching is how much mental crap I have lost.  If only I could have actually weighed it!

I now have found my purpose, I now live my life with intention and it feels damn good!

As for those thoughts and feelings, well they are now mine, I hear them, feel them, own them, process them, and let them go.  Don’t get me wrong there are still curveballs, but I genuinely have tools in my toolbox and I feel unstoppable!
